I am excitedly getting an agenda together for the Drama Club at the Lacey United Methodist Church. One doesn't have to be a member of the church to sign up their kids. The only requirement is that they have an interest in learning about acting and are willing to apply themselves. To sign up, the children have to be from a reading age up until 18 years of age. We meet on Tuesdays from 5pm until 6:30pm.

We will be covering all aspects of the craft from monologues, scene study, script-in-hand readings and improv. Because we are operating within a church setting, many of the scripts utilized will contain Christian themes. I decided to take upon this task while working with the children of Sunday School and other programs within the church. There is plenty of hidden talent which I believe that current academic programs don't have the resources to tap into.

Stage Directions and Improv will be a major part of the first session. With this being a new program for the church, I do need to judge how the first installment goes before I begin the long-term agenda to ensure the success of this venture. My experience with stage performing, independent films, training videos, murder mysteries, script-in-hand readings and improv should help add a nice flavor to the sessions.
