The Marvel Comics One-Shot entitled "The Death Of Doctor Strange: Bloodstone" takes place after the Earth's Sorcerer Supreme has been murdered. Stephen Strange's skills in the mystic arts were above any other being on Earth. Strangely (no pun intended), he has been killed. Strange was responsible for the protective barrier that surrounded the planet. Upon his death, this barrier has fallen, leaving the planet open to all sorts of invasions from threats out there in the universe.
Ulysses was a monster hunter. His amazing abilities were passed down to his daughter Elsa, as well as a piece of the magical bloodgem, increasing her special abilities to an even higher level. Elsa lives with her brother, Cullen, who just happens to share his body with an extradimensional parasite monster known as Glartrox. Not trusting Krakkan or any of his priests, Ulysses sacrificed the Nullgem and his first child, Lyra. This was many moons ago and to also show his loyalty to his gods.
Somehow, Lyra was able to transport herself to Bloodstone Manor in London, England, home of Elsa and Cullen. Obviously, the family reunion is quite awkward at first but then each realize they can help each other. While Lyra was trapped out in the Cosmos, it had to be the death of Strange that gave her an opening to escape and feel called to transport her into present day London. In addition, the Nullgem is embedded in her chest.
Realizing that the blame for this chaos rests solely with the sorcerers, the three siblings decide to band together. Lyra also feels that she can help Cullen with whatever is inside him. David Nakayama's cover artwork maintains an emptiness that presents an eerie feel. Ig Guara made the smart decision of not using that same feel on the inside pages, which now makes the cover stand out! Tini Howard's story leaves many possible scenarios open to build upon in the pages of "The Death Of Doctor Strange." Welcome, Lyra Bloodstone!
