I stumbled upon a moth celebration
It was as if I was invited
The air smelled like rain
They didn’t seem concerned about the weather
They were so elated to be alive
They weren’t concerned with much of anything so far as I could tell
They flitted and fluttered around me as I wrote this
As if they were holding the pen
Landing occasionally to see if I was a tree
They didn’t seem to mind that I wasn’t
A fly soon joined us and landed on my thumb
It seemed to want to help write this too
Nobody seemed worried at all
We were all invited
