IN TIME LIKE THESE
We now live in a time when insecurity, ethnic and religious violence, insurgencies and all sort of evil acts are increasing on a daily basis. Many children and adults seems to worry and daily drowned in the sea of fear and anxiety. The good news is here and that is God still gives peace to people who trust Him, even in the time of trouble. He is our anchor in the stormy ocean of life.
In this perilous time, God is calling us to walk with him by faith; without faith no one can walk with him or please him. In a time like this, faith in God is an essential requirement to live triumphantly.
God doesn’t just want you to trust him alone for divine protection and sustenance. He also wants you to acquaint your children with him and teach them to have unshakable faith in Him. However, before your children can develop trust in God, you must teach them the word of God. Apostle Paul affirms in the book of Romans 10:17, faith cometh by hearing the word of God.
The Israelites were instructed by god to teach their children His ways and statues. First, begin by guiding and urging them to accept Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior.
Tell them about the sacrifice of Christ on the cross and guide them to believe in him for their salvation. You must also teach them how to pray and show them the benefits of prayer. In addition to praying for them, you can also pray with them.
You need to help them understand that there is nothing they cannot achieve when they pray to God in faith. Moreover, inculcate them daily in the habit of reading, studying, memorizing and claiming God’s promises as written in the scriptures.
When your children’s faith is firmly rooted in God’s word, they will not be shaken by the vicissitudes of life. They will be like the house built on the rock which cannot be moved. The prevalent worldly distractions and negatives influences will not lead them astray. As time goes on, they will to make their worries and fear to God’s unchanging word and heavenly minded. Finally, you will experience peace and have rest of mind in your old age. God bless you.
