Would you pay to access social media? Most people today likely wouldn't and that is because there are so many 'free' options out there to utilize. When the idea came up recently about people paying on Twitter for a verified blue checkmark it didn't take long for people to propose that they would leave the platform if this happens.
$20? $8? What amount might users be comfortable with? Any amount? Musk has insisted that ads alone aren't going to help keep the bills paid. There are also some celebrities who have already left the platform because they didn't want to stick around and see what Musk had planned for it.
Celebrities and official Twitter accounts for different businesses and organizations are what play a great role in attracting users initially and keeping them coming back and engaged, if enough leave the platform what will that mean for the future success of it? Various reports have already suggested that troublesome tweeting has drastically increased allegedly since Musk took over. It isn't clear how many users might have left already.
