It never should have been invoked in the first place so what has changed? Trudeau along with NDPs and other Liberals recently voted to push it through, so why change their minds now?
The senate started debating this topic this week and things weren't going that well for Trudeau so far based on the commentary. Senators suggested that invoking the act was a symbol of weakness of the PM and that the trucker convoy demonstration did not qualify as an insurrection. We have heard from civil liberties advocates, constitutional scholars, and other political leaders around Canada etc, that this was a gross overreach of government.
Is he just trying to save himself some embarrassment from them exposing him for the wannabe tyrant that he is?
Unfortunately for those who helped Trudeau to push through that arguably tyrannical piece of legislation to be used against largely peaceful protestors, the people won't be quick to forget the names that turned against them and the freedoms of the people. The act was expected to be in place for weeks but now they admit that there is no need for it with their move to revoke those special powers.
