There was a shocking dairy farm fire recently in Texas that resulted in an estimated 18,000 cows being killed. It's a surprise that there wouldn't be more measures in place to try and reduce that sort of loss in the event of a fire by now. Clearly more solutions are needed in the market to try and avoid problems like this.

This is a huge cost/loss when something like this happens both for those who are raising the animals and for the local market that was going to receive the supply too.

Deadliest barn fire on record?

Apparently it has been regarded as the deadliest barn fire on record. The fire broke out at a family dairy farm in the West area of Texas and one employee was rescued allegedly and now the event has prompted responses from animal welfare groups and activists who call for federal laws to prevent barn fires that might kill thousands of animals.

This isn't the first time we have heard about a farm having issues and many of the livestock losing their lives.

Are more common sense fire safety measures needed?

In the last decade it is estimated that some 6.5 million farm animals have lost their lives in fires.

It has been alleged in some reports that the fire might have been started in this case by overheated equipment and there is expected to be an investigation into the incident. There were some surviving cows but some might be so injured allegedly that they too might end up losing their lives because of it.
