Cuban has made it clear that he isn't a fan of tariffs, seeing them as an attack on American people. Cuban has also allegedly been considering a run in 2020, recently saying there's currently no one who has a chance of beating Trump right now. He's also admitted that he would be trying slightly different tactics with regard to the ongoing trade war.
When it comes to the escalating trade war with China, Cuban admits that he would do things a bit differently:
“I'd shut down all Chinese IPOs—that's the first step,... Given [Trump’s] propensity for using Twitter and throwing warning shots, I would throw out there that we might put a halt on the trading of Chinese-listed stocks in the United States.... A trading halt would certainly create a lot of disruption for those Chinese companies” - Cuban
As far as running in 2020, Cuban says it would take the perfect storm of events to inspire him to pursue an independent run.
“...the reality is people don’t trust politicians.” - Cuban
A previous study found that people in the US trust Amazon more than their own government. And this sentiment can be found in other areas as well. Trust for career politicians and government has reportedly been at an all time low.
To demonstrate the discontent with the system overall, there have even been a variety of non-human candidates that have been elected in the past. Those candidates include a mule, dog, cat, and goat. Not all votes for those elections in those instances might have been a form of protest, but it goes to show that many have lost faith in the system over the years and have realized that it has always been little more than an ongoing cruel joke, at our expense, the organization has continued to fail wildly at a myriad of endeavors, but always seems to work for itself.
It might take a few more rounds yet, for more people to accept the reality that perhaps we don't need government as we have it today, in order to survive. Maybe an individual themselves should be their own ultimate source of authority. Maybe we shouldn't need to seek permission from a central authority figure before we engage and exchange with one another peacefully.
Loosening those chains for a return to self-responsibility would be for our benefit, it might be the best thing to help foster a better way of living, giving us a better way to survive and thrive. The state might prefer to market itself as our servant, but it has always acted as the opposite, it has been responsible for inflicting an unimaginable amount of unjust violence on peaceful people over thousands of years. While we maintain the show, with billions spent annually helping to reinforce that self-destructive belief in this system of authority, we will be left wondering how much longer until there's an escape from the system of insanity.
Or how long might it be until the American people elect a billy goat as President?
