The McDonald's Szechuan sauce is coming back and it's a pretty big deal. Why? Because of how hard to get this sauce is and the fact that past versions of it have sold for thousands of dollars online.
It is only coming back for a limited time.
Several years ago when they had a limited edition of the Szechuan sauce they ended up seeing huge demand and the supply quickly ran out.
The inability to satisfy that demand left people looking to find alternatives and trying to hunt down whatever supply they could find.
It has only been on the market a handful of times in several decades and it is about to be coming back once more.
The sauce is coming back at the end of the month and is supposed to be available until the supply runs out, customers can order the sauce through the McDonald's app.
There is going to be a cap on orders for the sauce to try and prevent only a few from hoarding them all, people will be able to receive one with an order of nuggets too.
There are tens of millions of people who have already downloaded the McDonald's app for fast service and the McDonald's app has previously managed to become one of the most downloaded fast food apps in the United States. They've got millions of active users and this promotion with the sauce launching again and offering access through the app is sure to drive even more to sign up. Who knows how high demand might go for reselling demand too. As with other recent promotions that they've had we again might see some of the products quickly end up being sold online as well and the supply running out quickly.
The sauce originally came out in 1998, it was also released later in 2017, again in 2018, now also in 2022. Let's hope they made a much larger batch this time around.
McDonald's is already selling coffee in stores and other goods. They've sold the Mac' sauce, Fish burger sauce, and the McChicken sauce too, so maybe they should give customers what they want, and bring a larger version of the Szechuan sauce to stores just the same.
