Millions of people have gotten used to contactless payments when buying foods and other goods in the market. Despite the trend in this direction though there are still many people who say that cash is king and they want to see it stick around as a form of payment.

There are some businesses who don't accept cash and people have been shocked in the U.S. to go to one business or another and find out that they won't be able to use their cash to buy a coffee or some other good.

Though many people might prefer cashless options there are also surveys showing that many people don't think the option to pay with cash should ever go away. But some say we are moving in that direction. One recent report on Canadian grocery stores suggests that in a few years there might be a quarter of them who don't take cash any longer.

It is estimated that there are millions of households or more around the U.S. that don't have a bank account.

If they are forced to use something else other than what they are used to, where might they look to solve that problem? Could this bring more people into learning about cryptocurrency and going that direction? Will more businesses start accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment as we move further down the cash cutting road?

There are a wide variety of cashless airports and other businesses already today and some people might struggle to find someone to take their cash for goods depending on where they might be.

Some cities and other regions have been planning ahead and saying no to cashless markets in the future, they want to ban businesses from being able to reject cash. Will we see more move in that direction if the trend continues?

Will consumers choose to stop supporting businesses that they see refusing to accept cash?

Already today the majority of consumers in the U.S. and other countries don't prefer to pay with cash. As the idea of a cashless society has been floated there are critics who have spoken out, including civil liberties advocates who warn against such a proposal. Some might suggest that we are a long way off from such an environment unfolding in our daily lives but it does seem to be moving in that direction and has been for years.
