STABBED
One person's joy
is another's sorrow
one has love
the other does not
the circumstances are countless
the barriers too great
for a friend
who loves his friend
Too caring yet
suffering as a result
too understanding yet
worshipped as a result
but this is not what he wants
no one
not even he
knows what he is searching for
but worship
is not it
Worshipped by two who are now one
for different reasons
all valid in their own eyes
but they hurt him knowingly
Looking for understanding
nervous
but deep down knowing he will
grant their wish
at his own expense
Their relief is his pain
Stabbed before
he is treading on common ground
awkward situations
he has experienced them all
so it should come as no surprise
the actions of those in love
the great pretenders
Some appear to be in love
when their heart is absent
some appear to be in love
when their heart is elsewhere
some make relationships work
at any cost to themselves
sadly
love can ignore many things
But again he survives
by being real to himself
and standing by his own decisions
slowly healing himself
By removing the knife from his back
and using it to
carve
a fate of his own
Regardless of love
