PADDED ROOM
Sunshine
begets
hope enclosed in
padded rooms
all over the world
The jumping
possibility of the
day ahead
seemingly open
with purpose
But each day
gives way to night
and the demons
seep under doors
and through
keyholes
To comfort you
hiding in
tattered pockets
where coins
used to play
Nothingness
pervades as we
slumber as long
as humanly possible
expecting dreams
to take us away
At least
farther than
the reach
that
padded rooms
possess
