LEEWARD SIDE
Roll me up
in an old
sleeping bag
and carry me
to strange places
where strange voices
make beautiful music
And the distant
waterfall can still
be heard above
the roar of the
blinding stars
That force my eyes
into the flickering
embers of a
stone hearth
without boundaries
The safety
of this place
only enhanced
by the constant offer
of a helping hand
and a gentle smile
To guide me
through moments
never to be
forgotten
exaggerated
or replicated
I am lying
on the leeward side
of the treeline
where even on the most
stormiest of days
my fire will
continue to burn
