I have decided that I can't justify spending $2,000-$3,000 on a camera body, so am probably going to go with a more fun version of Canon's DSLRs - maybe the 6D Mark ii, which does in camera multiple exposures. It would mark the first time I have ever downgraded a camera model in over 20 years. LOL!
Actually it would still sort of be be an upgrade from the 5D mark ii, because it has Full-frame 26MP image sensor, a touch screen, wifi and GPS capabilities, plus the multiple exposure feature. The downside is that it has no sync port to accommodate my old studio strobes which I always connected to my 5D with a sync cord. I hear people moaning about poor dynamic range, but the naked eye can't really tell the difference. Besides, I always shoot my Canons in raw mode - never in jpegs!
What made me decide on this? Stock income is way down, but every now and again I analyze my monthly statements to see what is selling, or rather licensing! My highest licensed image on my July statement is to a company in Germany for $536.32, making me $107.30 from that one image. It was shot on my iPhone. Looking back over my statements for this year so far, all the highest paying licenses are for iPhone shots! I think I should take heed!
