I am part of a youth group from a Catholic Church since some years, in my first year, I am talking about five years ago one of the oldest guys of the group asked me and my brother if I would like to be a missionary in Guarico State, that is far from where I live, Caracas, the Capital city, even when I did not have experience as a missionary I accepted the offer I was really curious about the experience of being a missionary.
We were a group of young guys who were really happy because of the trip, We were going to be missionary in a different State that We have not visit before, We traveled in a big bus because besides the young people We were also with some older people that are very good persons, I did not know many of the guys who traveled with us and We became good friends after all the trip, that was one of the best things of the travel. After a very long trip on bus finally We arrived to the place were We were going to be missionaries, It was a very little town called "San Fernando 2000", when We arrived all the town were in patronage parties and we were part of all the celebrations. Our first homework was to invite all the town to celebrate the parties, We were in a big truck handing out flyers of the celebrities.
In the second day We celebrated with the people of the town, in the mornig we had a procession with an image of the patron of the church of the place "San Juan Marua Vianney" and in the night It was a great celebration with food and dance.
In the thirth day We started to visit all the houses and talk with the people, It Was a very nice experience to talk with other people about my religion, I really enjoy doing that and in a different environment make me enjoy very much the opportunity, one of the most interesting things was that We were the leaders of a group of children who were going to be with us, It was really funny I felt like the big brother of all the kids, I could share and enjoy with them very good moments. Was a great responsability, but at the same time was great teach them something and also learn a lot from them. We were a week in Guarico and all the days mostly our of food was meat in breakfast, lunch and dinner someone in the town had killed a cow for feed us all the week, We ate different things very few times, at the beggining was great, but it turned a little heavy eat always the same for seven days, for the end of the trip I did not want to eat meat at least for a week and also I gained a couple of kilos.
In the fourth day We move to another town even with less people than the first one, Was a very humble town with some houses, It was only a path of earth with little houses, the people there was very shy, very few of them wanted to talk with us, there were a lot of cows walking around there and that made funy to walk when It was dark, You never knew when was going to appear a cow.
One of the days that we did not eat meat was when We ate a venezuelan food called "Cachapa" wich is made with corn, We had to grind corn to eat with a very old machine that someone had in the town.
We were two days in that new town and after that We came back to the first place, It was our last day and I realized that the experience was about to finish, one of the best that I have had in my life, I always going to remember the people who I talked with and the children that were with me and my brother I can say that my first experience as missionary was remarkable and I am not never going to forguet it because all the good and bad moments that we lived and all the things that I learned in that trip.
