Actually I'm in the middle of my university days, thanks a great effort and to keep a good average the last year I received a scholarship to help me with my studies. It was an excellent opportunity for me because It has helped me a lot, is not just a scholarship which help me with economical needs, It is an association that help university students to develop many skills and growing up as model professionals even giving them the opportunity to work in man professional environments and helping other people volunteering . The name of this association is "AVAA" for its acronym in Spanish "Asosiación Venezolano Americana de Amistad" (Venezuelan American Friendship Association).
As I said before this association bring many opportunities for young men a women to help young students. One day one friend called me and told me that She was going to develop a new volunteering program called "Learning companion" the idea called my attention, It was about to start a program for High School students that were close to graduate and star their university studies, the idea was make them to know about AVAA because even when It's a great association It is not very popular and It don't have many members, because of this, starting this program with future university boys and girls was the perfect idea to make them to discover AVAA in an easier way.
AVAA is directly related with the CVA "Centro Venezolano Americano" (Venezuelan American Center) one of the most prestigious English academies in the country, because one of the benefits of the scholarship is that help the students to pay the English course, my friend thought that It was going to be a great idea to start our new protect with high school students that were in the first levels of the English course, actually this first students that were going to take part of our project were in the CVA thanks to another scholarship for High School Students called "ACCESS" program, actually I was part of this program when I was in High School before to be accepted in AVAA this is why my friend called to help her with this new project.
It was great for me to remember the old times talking with those boys about when I started my English course, our idea was to make them know a little more about AVAA and also start helping them since that moment to prepare their self to star university studies, It was great because in that group of teenagers there were some boys that wanted to study my career It was very nice to show them a new world of possibilities.
I gave them some chats about different topics, but I never lost the main idea that was making them to discover AVAA, honestly I hope to see some of those boys being accepted in the association, I really enjoy doing this kind of volunteering because I really like to help the people and of course I feel identified with some High School students who wants to study at the university or to take an English course but they don't have the economical possibilities, that's why if I can help them I'm going to do my best and sow them that you can follow your dreams doing a great effort, but you are not alone and there are some people who wants to help you like the people from AVAA.
