Here's the thing though, Sex Scenes have existed in games for a while now, and not once has it ever added controversy. It's only ever been met with mockery, in every single instance. So I don't think that was the case, especially since they never really advertised them existing.

I honestly think in the case of CyberPunk they felt it would add to the immersion of the world, and they felt including the imagery would help establish the kind of people you are dealing with. It just fails to do that horribly.
