Building Habits & Discipline Early in Childhood Education
Hi everyone. In this education post, I want to highlight the importance of building habits and discipline early with young kids in childhood education.
Teaching Kids Early
In theory, you can teach kids anything. Young kids are sort of like a blank canvas. You can develop them into anything you would like. Parents do have a responsibility to protect their kids from physical attacks as well as harmful ideas. Ideally you want the kids to learn:
- Respecting Others
- Table Manners
- How To Work With Others & Teamwork
- Basic Food Nutrition
- Speaking, Writing, Basic Math
- Additional Languages
- Food Preparation & Cooking (if there is time)
Early Lessons In Hard Work and Discipline
In my opinion, it is ideal to teach kids that you do not get something from nothing. Work is needed to get your food on the table, work is needed for the lights to turn on and so on.
Kids at a young age can learn basic tasks as help with sweeping dirt with a mini brush, cleaning their room, putting toys away once they are used, cleaning the coffee table with a wet cloth.
Getting kids doing basic tasks early on in their lives does prevent them from being lazy. More importantly, I think it helps with prevent these kids from being spoiled as they get older. People generally don't like lazy and spoiled people that demand everyone to do things for them.
Respect Is Important
I do think one of the most important things you can teach students is respect. Different teachers and people will have their own views about respect and treating others.
Students should respect their elders, teachers and position of authority. There are cases where the adults, teachers and people in power actually hurt people. With those type of dangerous people, students should not respect them.
Respect does go a long way with how people cooperate and work with each other. It applies to the classroom, families and society.
