In my opinion and biblically, I'd say NO!
Living together with your partner doesn't guarantee a perfect marriage. Neither does it eradicate misunderstandings, lack of trust or whatever.
Marriage is a Union between a man and a woman. That union comes after doing what's required. But these days the Union happens before the marriage proper. Which is one reason couples get fed up with them themselves before five years. Its more or less like we've done everything we were suppose to do before marriage. So what's the big deal now? If not making children.
Also, am not saying abstinence from each other will guarantee a perfect marriage. Because any marriage that is not built on a solid foundation is bound to crash.
Let me share some tips that could help in building a healthy relationship before marriage.
1. PHYSICAL
Now physical here simply means actions that showcases charisma such as church activities, the way he/she talks, walking steps etc. Ladies usually do these things and guys call it GREEN light. But they don't communicate spirituality.
2. THE RIGHT ORDER TO RELATE WITH PEOPLE.
You must be spiritual when it comes to relating with people and more especially when it comes to choosing a partner. This means you have to relate with people with the right manners/approach at the right time biblically.
-Start every relationship spiritually
-And also keep the relationship spiritual, including the person you married.
3. KNOW THE PERSON PSYCHOLOGICALLY
Such as smiles, how the person respond to food, liquid and sex.
4. SOCIAL
You can chat and laugh with the person in fellowship; following good etiquette.
5. EMOTIONAL
Love is not a feeling but an informed choice/decision that produces an action. You can go out for picnics but without ulterior motives.
THE BEST PERSON TO MARRY IS A FRIEND. NEVER MARRY A STRANGER.
Start every relationship SPIRITUALLY, take it to the next level SOCIALLY by studying the person PSYCHOLOGICALLY and being PHYSICAL and not EMOTIONAL.
I believe this should help in choosing a partner better, than intending to live with him/her to have a perfect family.
