When my chocolate labrador puppy was three months old, I took him to the veterinarian to get vaccinations. While she checked it carefully, she noticed a small white mark on her hair, on the left rear leg. Then, he smiled and said: This is where God supported you when he dipped you in chocolate.
I could not help but laugh. But she, unintentionally, had expressed a significant concept about the deep and intentional interest that God has in his creation.
In Matthew 10:30, Jesus tells us: even your hair is all numbered. God is so great that he can be interested in even the most intimate details of our lives. There is nothing that is so small that it escapes his gaze or worry too trivial to not be able to present it before Him. The Lord is very interested; it's that easy.
God not only created us, but also sustains us and keeps us at all times. It is often said that the devil is in the details. But it is much better to understand that it is God who is in them, attentive even to things that we do not notice. What a comfort it is to know that our heavenly Father, wise to perfection and deeply interested in us, sustains us - as he does with all creation - in his strong and loving arms!
