Right now, eliminate the hurry. When two friends repeated that saying of the wise Dallas Willard, I knew I had to think about it. What was he doing around, wasting time and energy? More importantly, what was I rushing about, without asking God for guidance and help? In the weeks and months that followed, I remembered those words and reoriented myself to the Lord and his wisdom, reminding me to trust in Him and not depend on myself.

After all, going here and there frantically seems to be the opposite of the perfect peace spoken of by the prophet Isaiah. The Lord gives this gift to Him whose thought in Him perseveres, because He trusts in Him (Isaiah 26: 3). And the Lord is trustworthy today, tomorrow and always, because in God the Lord is the strength of the ages (v. 4). Trusting in God, with our mind fixed on Him, is the antidote to a hasty life.

How is our life? Do we feel that we are in a hurry or hurry? Perhaps, on the contrary, we usually experience a sense of peace. Or maybe we are in an intermediate position.

Whatever the situation we are in, my prayer is that we can put aside any hurry, trusting in the Lord, who never fails us and gives us his peace.
