Shangrila Resort, Skardu – A Beautiful Escape in the Mountains

It has been quite a while since I last made a post. Unfortunately, whenever I publish something, my posts seem to get downvoted, and I honestly don’t know why. Even though all my content is original and created by me. Anyway, let’s get to today’s post!
Today, I’m sharing my experience at Shangrila Resort, located
at Lower Kachura Lake in Skardu, also known as Shangrila Lake. The resort is built around a heart-shaped lake, with beautiful cottages surrounding it, offering some of the most breathtaking views of Skardu.
Many local and international tourists make sure to visit this place whenever they come to Skardu. The resort is incredibly clean, the air is fresh and pleasant, and the overall atmosphere is simply wonderful.
I visited Shangrila directly after landing in Skardu and stayed there for one night with my family. It was such a lovely experience, and I really enjoyed my stay. The night view was especially b

Weather in September 🍂
If we talk about September, the weather is usually pleasantly cool, with a slight chill in the air. After the middle of September, the temperature starts dropping further, making the evenings and nights even colder.
As you can see in the pictures, I managed to capture some beautiful moments during our stay. We also enjoyed boating, which was a really fun experience. The lake and its surroundings made the whole activity even more enjoyable.
Food, Service & Accommodation 🍽️
When it comes to food, I would rate it 8/10. The food was really good, and we enjoyed our meals. The service was also great. Everything from the rooms and housekeeping to cleanliness and available facilities was well taken care of. Overall, we had a very comfortable stay.
Location & Nearby Attractions 📍
Shangrila Resort is approximately 52–60 minutes away from Skardu city, depending on the route and traffic. You can easily spend a night here and then continue exploring other beautiful destinations nearby.
Some of the places you can visit during your trip include Upper Kachura Lake, Soq Valley and Shigar.
If you are planning a trip to Skardu, Shangrila Resort is definitely a place worth adding to your itinerary. The beautiful lake, peaceful atmosphere, delicious food and stunning mountain views make it a memorable experience.
Food in Skardu 🍲
When it comes to food in Skardu, you can find almost every kind of cuisine here, whether it’s traditional Pakistani food, Continental dishes or local specialties. Momos and soup are particularly famous, and you can easily find them at local food stalls and eateries.
The Beauty of the Lake & Family Time 🌿
The lake is incredibly clean, with crystal-clear water where you can even see fish swimming. Fishing is strictly prohibited here to preserve the lake’s natural beauty and maintain its cleanliness.
I noticed many families and tourists visiting the resort to spend quality time together. It’s a peaceful escape from the noise and busy life of the city. You can enjoy the quiet surroundings, gentle breeze and beautiful scenery without the usual hustle and bustle.
During winter, you can also enjoy a bonfire, have a live barbecue and sip some hot tea while admiring the stunning surroundings. At night, the resort lights up beautifully, creating a magical view that is absolutely worth experiencing.
My Flight to Skardu ✈️
Talking about the journey, I flew from Islamabad to Skardu. The flight usually takes around 40 minutes, and since the weather was clear that day, we had a very smooth and stable journey. Flights to Skardu are often delayed due to unfavourable weather conditions, so having a clear-weather flight was a lovely experience.
One of the most beautiful parts of the journey was the breathtaking view of the Himalayan mountain ranges from the plane. If you are lucky enough to get a seat on the right side, particularly an F seat, you may even catch a glimpse of Nanga Parbat!
Skardu Airport & First Impressions 🏔️
Skardu Airport is quite small and compact, but it is beautifully maintained, clean and charming. As soon as you arrive, you immediately feel that you’ve entered a completely different world, surrounded by magnificent mountains.
And if you’re visiting during winter, you’ll be welcomed by spectacular views of snow-covered mountain peaks. The entire landscape feels so different and peaceful, making your arrival in Skardu a memorable experience even before your sightseeing begins.
Best Time to Visit Skardu 🍂🌸
If you want to enjoy the best views and pleasant weather, March to August is a great time to visit Skardu. This is also when you can witness the beautiful cherry blossoms, adding even more charm to the landscape.
However, September and October are also wonderful months to visit, especially if you love autumn scenery. If you prefer beautiful shades of orange, yellow and golden leaves over lush green landscapes, you'll absolutely enjoy visiting during this season. Many tourists visit Skardu specifically to experience its stunning autumn colours.
A Perfect Family Getaway ❤️
Shangrila is also a lovely destination for families looking to spend quality time together in a peaceful and scenic environment.
Another advantage is that you may find reasonably priced flight tickets during September and October, making it a good opportunity to plan your trip.
