In the NBA, when mentioning about who is the Greatest of All Time (GOAT), a lot of names are considered. Players like Hakeem, Shaq, Jabaar, Jerry West, Bill Russell, Allen Iverson, Tim Dincan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, David Robinson and many more are all mentioned in the GOAT debate. However, three names are mostly mentioned in the said debate and continuously still on comparison. The three names are Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James.
Michael Jordan has won 6 NBA championships in his career with 6 Finals MVP. During 1990 to 2000, Jordan was able to win those 6 rings and really dominated that decade. Along with his rings, Jordan has achieved many awards such as MVPs, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Gold Medalist in the Olympics and many more.. For most, Jordan is considered to be the GOAT.
Kobe Bryant had his own decade in which he was recognized to be one of the GOAT. It was during 2000-2010 that Kobe was able to win 5 championships with 2 Finals MVP. Kobe has not only won 2 rings that decade but also won a lot of achievements such as MVP, NBA All time Defensive First team, Scoring Champion, All Star MVP, gold medalist in the Olympics and many more. Kobe was considered to be the next Michael Jordan that time since Kobe's game has a lot of similarities to Jordan's.
And here comes Lebron James who dominated in the 2010-2020 decade. This decade, Lebron James has won 3 NBA championships along wigh 3 Finals MVP and still on a mission on getting another ring. James has also won achievements such as MVPs, Rookie of the Year, Scoring champion, All Star MVPs, gold medalist in the Olympics and many more. James has a unique way of playing with his huge body with a good sense of passing. Right now, James is considered to be the best all around player.
These three players have all achieved a lot of achievements in their career. Jordan dominated in his prime, Kobe as well proved his the best in his prime and James also dominated in his prime. These 3 players had their own way to face their hardships until they became successful and have their own legendary career.
I guess it is time for these comparisons to stop and just appreciate what they did in the basketball sport. Before, I was also comaparing players. I have compared Kobe and Lebron James and claimed that Kobe is greater than Lebron. But now, I had realized that they had their own hardships and conquered them that led the way to success. Kobe had his way and Lebron has his way.
I mean, these NBA players respect each other even though they were compared to. There are a lot of great players in basketball. I think its unfair to say who will be the greatest player since every player had their unique way.
For me, we should stop all the comparisons and just appreciate GREATNESS.
