All of us have a purpose for being here on this plane of existence (3rd dimension physicality). No matter how long or short our duration here is, nor how many times we have we been here before, there is always a reason why we are here.
Have you ever met a person that resonates with purpose to the degree that it's palpable? Have you noticed these people tend to be "lucky" or that things seem to fall into place for them rather easily? I have met a few people like this and I can say that is no coincidence that things work out that way.
These are people operating on all cylinders and are in perfect alignment with their inner selves. They have found their mission in life, and that really is an awesome thing to witness. When you align your "will" (your thoughts, emotions and actions) to that of the creative Will of the Universe, there is not a lot that can stand in your way. The universe respects this unity of will and work in your favor instead of against you.
Realize that you are here on a mission. This realization is extremely important and will have a focusing effect. The more directed your attention, intention and energy is, the more powerful of an effect you will have working towards whatever your goal may be. I will be outlining two things below that I have done to help me find my mission.
This was a big one for me and I looked at it like this. I am going to need a good solid understanding of who I am before I should be trying to figure out what I should be trying to do in this crazy place. Makes logical sense right? I started pondering who I really am out of a need for spiritual answers that I was not getting by going to church, listening to other people who mostly just regurgitated what other people have told them and have not gone through personal transformation themselves. I wanted to find those answers first hand. I think I can best describe this through an anecdotal account of my own experience.
I first started by researching the religions of the world and took the approach of anything goes. I didn't want to filter something out based on a previous bias I had so I had to look at everything with a fresh perspective. while doing this I would always find things that I could agree with and a lot of things I didn't, this grew quite frustrating after months of research and being no closer to the answers that I sought. Then everything changed and I was not prepared for what was to come.
One morning my brother, his girlfriend and myself were discussing a wide variety of topics over coffee. She started talking about a book that she just finished reading called Hardcore Zen by Brad Warner. The book sounded interesting so I asked her if I could borrow it. This book blew my mind. It is excellent, informative and very entertaining to read. I would often read the title of a chapter and think what the hell does this have anything to do with spirituality or Zen Buddhism, but by the time I was done reading the chapter, the name of it was not only appropriate but made perfect sense.
This book gave me a different perspective that I desperately needed and opened my mind to a whole new way of looking at myself and the world. This largely just created more questions than I found answers for but it taught me that I was asking the wrong questions and looking externally for answers which got me to change my focus to start looking internally.
When I talk to people now about spirituality, I like to ask them who they are as an exercise to get them to start thinking deeply about that. Usually their first response tends to be their name or their role in society like their job or their role as a mother or father, etc. Most people I do this exercise with have their entire identity as a being as their ego which you can't really fault them if they have not taken the time to think about existence. That is kind of where we all start out.
So who am I really? My answer is that I am a spiritual being having a physical experience that is meant to teach me the lessons that I personally require for higher levels of existence. That is why all of our lives are so unique and why it is important that you seek truth for yourself. This is also why any attempt to make our individual experiences here androgynous is downright insidious. We all require something different. You will not leave this place until you have learned these lessons (which may take many life times). The answers that you seek are often hinted at if you have the eyes to see them and the ears to hear them.
Everyday I try (and sometimes fail) to appreciate how amazing this existence is and the time I have here. I greet the Sun and mother Earth in the morning and the moon at night and pay attention to nature as there are many lessons to learn from observing nature.
Having the ability to decipher truth from lies is absolutely paramount. I hear people ask often how someone can tell if something is true or not. For some it may be easy to figure out, for others it may be rather difficult. I think a lot of that depends on how honed your Bullshit detector is. This is an inherent ability in all of us. Some have just honed it more than others have. Pondering existence, seeking truth, questioning authority, meditation and learning how to trust your instincts and intuition all hone this ability.
That is a LARGE topic that deserves its own post(s). Rest assured it will be covered in the future, but the short answer is to Restore Humanity. My natural talents are to fix what is broken and defend what needs defending. That truth has been shoved in my face over and over through numerous vectors but it just took me a very long time to see it.
Find your path, find your Mission.
Love to all.
