Last year one of my friends, yes I still have some, in the UK who is a very avid Pokémon Go player asked me to set up an account as there are Pokémon here in the Philippines that are quite rare back in Europe. I was reluctant at first as it just seemed a waste of time but as she pointed time is the one thing I've got plenty of at the now I've retired, so I finally agreed, signed up and created an account. Little did she know that she was creating a monster or should that be a Pokémonster.
It wasn't too bad at first trying to understand the game, watching the odd YouTube tutorial catching or failing to catch the odd Pokémon. But like any drug once you start its hard to stop. No day goes by now without my regular fix. Quite often a quick 5 minutes turns into a couple of hours, either catching Pokémon or having a battle.
The big plus is it has got me walking again and pre Covid and lockdown I was walking about 50k a week back in the UK but not so much here in the Philippines as I normally cycle, but do still get some walks in most days just to hatch eggs and earn points the sign of a true addict.
Covid didn't really slow things down as Niantic, the company that develop the game, like any good pusher found a way for you to get your fix and keep you hooked, the rules changed a bit so you didn't have to walk as far to hatch eggs ands they started giving you free stuff to attract Pokémon.
So one year in almost 2k walked with Pokemon Go and I now have two accounts and always carry two phones yes it has got that bad, but the two accounts does help with Gym battles and some of the challenges that you get set.
So there you go Hivers you know my little secret and yes I was catching Pokémon while I was writing this post.
Any other Pokémon friends out there?
