So Hivers every now and again you get one of those once in a lifetime photos.
In my case is a trip to the dentist for a large green Moray. This shot taken at the Vellassaru Caves in the South Male Atoll in the Maldives on the very last dive of a 2 week liveaboard trip up through the Maldives atolls from Gan. It was a real bonus dive as most of the other divers on the boat were due to fly out of Male to Europe the next day but my flight back to the Philippines was not for another 2 days.
You will often see Banded cleaner shrimp in holes and cracks in the reef but they tend to be a bit camera shy and your lucky if you get more than a claw.
As I have proved on many occasions.
This is the first and only time I’ve seen them interact with a Moray in this way.
It came right at the end of a dive when time and my air were starting to get a bit low but watching the banded shrimp creep up the side of the Moray I just had to stay a little longer and see what was going to happen but I was rewarded with a couple of great photos so well worth the effort.
