Synopsis
Liz Buxbaum is a girl who has always believed in “happily ever after.” So when Michael, the boy she has had a crush on since childhood, returns to town, she is sure it is a sign and that he must be her date to the prom.

I don't usually read books where romance is the central theme of the story, but since I was looking for something easy and fun, and this book is quite popular, I wanted to give it a try. The plot is somewhat predictable and even absurd at times, but thanks to knowing the context of why I read this book in the first place, I managed to get into the story.
To be honest, Liz, as the main character, drove me crazy. She made decisions that I never understood. She's determined to find her happy ending, and at first it's cute, but then it gets a little worrying because she becomes obsessed with what she thinks fate has in store for her. That leads her, unintentionally, to hurt others. However, everything happens for a reason, and perhaps what didn't work for me was the way it was told.
On the other hand, Wes is a “sweetheart” and very funny. He's clearly a popular guy, but some of his ideas and reactions struck me as very mature, which surprised me and I liked it, to be honest. I would have liked to get to know him a little better as a character, outside of the plans he and Liz were making.
Liz and Wes's relationship was sweet, and I think they were given enough time for their story to develop as the book progressed. However, I didn't enjoy it completely because Liz exasperated me at very inopportune moments.
The book has several clichés, but I expected them given the title. I liked the way pop culture was referenced, especially at the beginning of the chapters. The plot, in general, is nothing special, but it does fulfill its purpose of entertaining. Overall, I think I expected more from the book, but I do recommend it as an easy, light read. Sinopsis
Liz Buxbaum es una chica que siempre ha creído en el "felices para siempre". Por ello, cuando Michael, el chico del cual ha estado flechada desde pequeña, regresa a la ciudad, está segura de que es una señal y de que él debe ser su cita en el baile de graduación.

Yo no suelo leer libros donde el romance sea el eje central de la historia, pero como buscaba algo fácil y divertido, y además este libro es bastante popular, quise darle la oportunidad. La trama es algo predecible y hasta absurda en algunos momentos, pero gracias a saber el contexto de por qué leí este libro en primer lugar, logré meterme en la historia.
Siendo sincera, Liz, como protagonista, me desesperó. Tomó decisiones que no logré entender nunca. Ella está decidida a buscar su final feliz y al principio es tierno, pero luego se vuelve algo preocupante, ya que se obsesiona con lo que cree que el destino le tiene preparado. Eso la lleva, sin querer, a lastimar a otros. No obstante, todo tiene un porqué y, tal vez, lo que no funcionó para mí fue la forma en que fue contado.
Por otro lado, Wes es un "pan dulce" y muy divertido. Claramente es un chico popular, pero algunas de sus ideas y reacciones me parecieron muy maduras, algo que me sorprendió y me gustó, la verdad. Me hubiera gustado conocer un poco más de él como personaje, fuera de los planes que hacían Liz y él.
La relación de Liz y Wes fue tierna y, creo, sí se les dio el tiempo para que su historia se desarrollara a medida que avanza el libro. Sin embargo, no terminé de disfrutarla por completo porque Liz me exasperaba en momentos muy inoportunos.
El libro tiene varios clichés, pero ya los esperaba por su título. Me gustó la manera en que se hizo referencia a la cultura pop, sobre todo en el comienzo de los capítulos. La trama, en general, no tiene nada de especial, pero sí cumple con su propósito de entretener.
