¡Hi, readers! 👋🏽 It’s me. It’s so nice to say hello to all of you; I know it’s been a while since my last post, but I’m here to catch up. I wanted to tell you that I’m doing a little reading challenge with my sister: Each of us picks three books for the other to read throughout the year. There’s no rush—the only requirement is to finish them before the year ends and, of course, to enjoy stories we might not otherwise choose on our own.
My first book for this challenge is none other than Agatha Christie's Appointment with Death. 🕵🏽♂️📖

Les cuento que tengo un pequeño reto de lectura con mi hermana: Cada una escoge tres libros para que la otra los lea a lo largo del año. No hay prisa, el único requisito es terminarlos antes de que termine el año y, obviamente, disfrutar de historias que quizás de otra forma no elegiríamos por nuestra cuenta.
Mi primer libro para este reto no es otro que: Cita con la Muerte de Agatha Christie. 🕵🏽♂️📖

Overall, I liked the story and the setting, but what I found most interesting was the dynamic within the Boynton family. However, since it’s a short novel, I felt like I needed a few more pages to fully immerse myself in the plot and the complexity the author was trying to convey; I would have liked more time to connect with the characters. On the other hand, although I didn’t see the final twist coming at all, I felt it happened a bit out of the blue, and the explanation for the plot twist didn’t quite convince me.
En general, la historia y la ambientación me gustaron, pero, lo que me pareció mas interesante fue la dinámica de la familia Boynton. Sin embargo, al ser una novela corta, sentí que me hicieron falta algunas páginas más para sumergirme por completo en la trama y en la complejidad que la autora quería transmitir; me habría gustado tener más tiempo para empatizar con los personajes. Por otro lado, aunque no vi venir para nada el giro final, sentí que ocurrió un poco de la nada y la explicación del plot twist no terminó de convencerme.
I think my main issue was with the length of the episodes (and keep in mind, this is coming from someone who loves short episodes 😂). Maybe a little more character development would have helped me connect better with the plot, though I’ll admit the suspense worked: my curiosity kept me hooked until the end, eager to find out how it would all turn out.
Creo que mi conflicto principal estuvo en la duración de los capítulos (y miren que esto lo dice alguien a quien le encantan los capítulos cortos 😂) Quizás con un poco mas de profundidad en los personajes me habría ayudado a conectar mejor con la trama, aunque admito que la intriga funcionó: la curiosidad me mantuvo enganchada hasta el final para descubrir cómo se resolvería todo.
Although this first encounter with the author wasn't exactly what I expected, I'm definitely going to give her another chance. After all, they don't call her the “Queen of Crime” for nothing. Thank you so much for reading this far! Em ✨
