Its already different than any other Comic Con post you may have seen. That it because it was the first one on the African Continent.
In particular the back yard of South Africa, near a racetrack called Kayalami.
Just a mention to those affected by the unfolding events of Hurricane Florence, we wish you the best in these challenging times. Totally rumour, but perhaps those sort of factors may have play a part in a last minute pull out from Falcon whom many were surely keen to clap eyes on, pity he couldn't make the flight :(
However the show was indeed in full swing even without a few no shows (more on that below), in true fashion there was frenzied buying and selling of mostly plastic.
And unsure if you know but South Africans are a typically conservative lot.
As such, cosplay was exciting and of a high quality, but ultimately around 30-40% were rocking some kind of outfit; which I'm sure is a far lower percentage than the states or other places. That said I think it shows particular grit to those who got out of their comfort zones making a great showing at our first ever Comic Con, only way is up yo!
