Hi, Yes a good lighting will surely help gives more details.
I want to try those led ring flash for macro too. but for now, thou it's heavy i still use my external SB800 flash using pringle as my bouncer diffuser.
I also have a kenko extention tubes. that i attached my 50mm f1.8 lens. it gives almost the same shot as my 60mm macro lens.

I am just a hobby photographer. Just shoot more and eventually we get good photos.
