Not really sure what to type up with this but thought id share it anyway, a recent visit to our inlaws house I decided to take the camera (sony A6000 – 14-240mm FE lens, so 360mm with the 1.5 crop factor) to get some pictures of their garden and the amazing wild life we often see there.
Typically in UK fashion it was raining and over cast but I did manage to get a couple of good photo’s to play with.
One thing I have been trying to do is better kit out garden out with bird feeders and houses to draw them in as its such a great thing to watch when chilling with a coffee.
The garden is huge and incredibly well established, great for nature with many feeders for birds, houses to and the same for insects and even hedgehogs. The bee’s don’t miss out either with a lot of wild flowers and plants to keep them going year round. Definitely a garden any nature lover would be proud of and something I aspire to bring to my own garden.
This is one of my favourite birds to see in the north east of England wild parrots, I thought they were pulling my leg until I saw it myself!
The bull finch was such a har one to get a photo of very timid and only sticking around for a short time, shame the photo doesn’t do it justice as it was an amazing shade of orange, even in the dull light
Chaff finches along with robins are some of my favourite birds as I’ve often found them incredibly brave and have even managed to hand feed a few over the years.
Emily Dickinson’s ‘Hope is the thing with feathers’
I’m just doing to drop this poem in here, as its something that rings deep with me, I’m not even quite sure why but I like it. And its one I’ve have book marked ever since first reading it years ago.‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –
And sweetest – in the Gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –
I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.
The gold finches were quite funny to watch taking it in turns to go to the feeds with atleast another 5 or so lurking in the tree’s keep a watch for anything that may pose a threat to their comrades.
The humblest of wood pigeons, politely weighting till the other birds had moved on, not like those city pigeons you find
I wasn’t going to include any of the wild flower pictures in this post as I had taken quite a few but I was quite pleased with how the edit on this had came out so why not 😀 Il put them up as soon as I catch up on my other posts, hope you enjoyed this! and im off to plan to make my garden even more bird friendly, this to do list of posts never gets any shorter 🤟
