A little more art from Mauritius. In the norhtern end of the island you will find an old sugur factory that function as a museum. The museum tells the story of Mauritius and sugar. I have been here a few times before, but long time ago. In April this year, I was back again, I noticed that the walls of both the factory / museum and surrounding buildings have been decorated with beautiful paintings. When I was about to leave the museum, I noticed that there is a «Creative Park» right next to the museum. I checked it out. The whole place was very quiet and peaceful.
There are quite a few buildings housing art. The fist one is African art. Beautifully decorated on all of the walls. The second was a studio where artist were working. The artist is Baba Gaia. I have seen her work before. She is a Mauritian artist who does produce captivating work of art. Often her themes are inspired from nature. They are colorful an certainly eye-catching. She was born in 1993 and quite an all-rounder. If you check her work on her web-site, you will definitly see beautiful, colorful paintings of tropical landscapes.
After what I could find out by reading the notes on some om the buildings, workshops
are held for children of different ages. The building with the faces is housing a dance studio. I also passed a small building where a jewelry worked. Definitely a creative park with a little bit of everything.
