Hello, hivers! It is the beginning of a beautiful week, and I am excited to share with you all a beautiful piece I made.
From my pictures, I am sure you all have seen that I have a small stature; hence, most times when I buy Ankara fabric, I usually have at least a yard of fabric left, depending on the style I am sewing.
So I decided to use a left-over fabric to recreate a style I saw recently: a short pencil skirt with overlaps.
First, I drafted my skirt pattern on pattern paper using my measurements (the waist, hip, and length). For my waist, I used 24.5 inches; for my hips, 36 inches; and for my length, I used 20 inches.
For my overlap, I used 25 inches for the one on the right side and 12 inches for the one on the left. I then transferred the pattern to my material, cut it out, and added my interface to it.
After that, for the two overlaps
I attached it to the front basic bodices of the skirt, with the longer part on the right side and the shorter part on the left side, then I stitched it to the body of the skirt.
Then I attached my zip to the back bodice and finally stitched the front and back bodices together.
I took it to the market to make the islet holes since I didn't have an islet machine at home.
I then measured half an inch of plain green duchess material and formed a rope, which I then attached to the islet holes I made.
The final look
I cannot wait to rock my beautiful skirt馃 .
ALL IMAGES ARE MINE.
