Day Two - The great new Patio
I would never have believed the builder could have got the grass and soil in the skip. Not only did he manage it, but he still managed to leave a space! There's got to be some sort of special skill in loading a skip. Do builders go to skip filling school? He did make me laugh. He related a story of how one time he and a mate lifted one of those gravel flatting machines into a skip and compacted everything gaining at least another foot of space. All well and good, but when the skip lorry came it broke one of the chains when they tried to lift it! 馃ぃ
The gravel is down. I wouldn't exactly call it hardcore? It looks BIG! I hope I've not been over-ambitious in what we asked for?
QUICK! LOOK! The first slab is down. We really should have had a laying ceremony, maybe crack a bottle of bubbly over it? 馃嵕
Looking good! These slabs are not for novices, though. They're like a jigsaw puzzle and actually come with a laying plan. It filled me full of confidence when he said: "Yeah, the plan only goes so far then you're on your own." 馃槺
