And so humans start to be replaced by robots. Apparently, there's a shortage of people to work in Japanese nurseries. A startup by the name of Global Bridge Holdings has partnered with Gunma University to develop a robot that can recognise children and greet them. It is also packed with sensors that can detect vital signs such as breathing, heart rate and body temperatures using a thermograph with an alarm being triggered if any abnormalities are detected.
The robot has been designed to resemble a Care Bear and will cost around 4 Million yen (£28,000) and should be available around next April. Vevo, as the robot is called, is currently on trial at a Tokyo nursery one of 27 across Japan operated by Global Bridge Holdings.
