I am here because I just want to talk or perhaps I should call it rant.
Have you ever just sat back and asked yourself...Where did I go wrong?
I have, infact that's exactly what I am doing right, only thing is that I'm lying on the floor not sitting.
I consider myself a good and likeable person, I greet, I smile. I even put myself at an inconvenience just to help others in need.
So why then are things so difficult for me?.

Let's see shall we.... I'm twenty one years old and I have never been in a relationship. I finally think to myself, "Maybe I should try this dating of a thing". Perhaps like in the story books I'll find my one through love then live happily ever after.
Well that didn't happen and here I am lamenting about it.

Next, I decide that this semester was going to be my very best. I would focus on school, attend all my classes and have perfect grades.
Boom.... Cashless Policy.

First they decided to change the currency notes in my country; 200, 500 and 1000. When I heard I was really excited. We would have something new. I was expecting them to completely change the design, Lo and behold the new notes came out and the notes looked like they just carried the old note and soaked in red, green and blue dyes respectively.

I was not bothered when people had to go and start changing their old notes in the bank after all I didn't have plenty money.
I could easily spend the one I still had with me.
The first deadline for spending old notes came and passed, they extended it.
Then I woke up one morning, took my bath to go for my classes.
I reached the road and every one said they weren't collecting old notes. At that point I thought of two things;

  1. It's Nigeria, of course they'll extend it again
  2. I'll just withdraw money from my account and go to school.

That's how I started going round looking for money to withdraw.
The old notes were out of date and shouldn't be used shouldn't be used, yet the new notes were not in circulation.
I accepted my fate and I started trekking to school. The most annoying part is that I put extra effort into looking pretty and by the time I got to school, the prettiness had gone down the drain.

I don't know how I did it but I managed to survive a week after that. Thank God for elections because I finally got a three weeks break. No one had to tell me twice I teleported myself back to my parents house.
I knew things had reached another level when I saw my Dad counting the ten thousand naira note he bought for five thousand seven times yesterday. Yes I counted.

I am a good person. Good people deserve good things so what's with all the unfairness. Honestly it's really tiring.
Maybe if I had found the love of my life he would pat my back while telling me that it was okay.
Maybe I would have magically felt better. But I lie here,.....
Moneyless and Relationship-less.
And you know the worst part of it all?.... It's thirty five minutes past ten and I still haven't eaten breakfast.
