"She is not gonna survive this", Kendra panted in between breaths. I looked down at my little sister, giving her the best smile I could muster, "She is going to be fine, Kenny"
She stared back at me, hope shining in her silver grey eyes, "You promise?"
"Yes Kenny I promise".

I didn't keep my promise, few days later. Sammy was gone too.
The funeral was a small one with only few people in attendance. I looked around. Everyone had thesame expression on their faces. Another gone, who was going to be next?.
It wasn't always like this. There had been a time when our little town was peaceful, a time when people were happy.

That was until they came along. At first they were our friendly neighbors, introducing us to new things that made our rather simple life even more easy. Then they bought the land around us and started building their machines of vast destruction.

We didn't realize it in time. When we did it was a little too late. The toxic smoke from the machines in their industries had started wiping us out one by one.
Mama was the first to go, Papa followed next. Now it was Sammy. I couldn't keep doing it, burying the people I loved. I had to do something about it.

I had passed it over the years but never been this up close. What was it they called houses this big again?, Mansions.
An odd clothed man greeted me at the door. He stared at me through the glasses on his nose. I thought they were meant to be worn on the eyes.
"The Master is in his study, he'll will be out shortly ". He gestured me to sit and wait.
I played with my fingers. This place was scary and intimidating.

"You're awfully little to be the representative of the people". My head shot up. I had heard about Master Andrew but never seen him in person. I didn't get it, how could someone this beautiful be so cruel and awful.
"Are you going to stare or say what you came to say?".
That's how

I snapped back to reality, narrowing my eyes," The smoke emanating from your industry is killing my people". He cocked his head.
Yes I know what emanating it. I read it over ten times
"Your people won't be dying if they would stop being so damn stubborn and just move away"

"We can't just move, where do you want us to go?, we've owned those land for over hundreds of years. You came in, pretended like you were there to help then stole our lands, now you and your poisonous gas are wiping us out one by one. That's what you want isn't it?, eliminate the pesky flies?.

He sighed running a hand through his hair," The gas from what we produce is dangerous. Your town was in the middle of nowhere. That was the reason we chose it. The gas would get purified before it gets to human contact. All this can be avoided if you'd just listen pack up your things and go. If you don't then I guess flies will keep dropping.

"You're a very bad man"
"Everyone has a villain in their story, if you've chosen to make me yours I can't change your mind "
I stared at him with so much hate, " We're going to get our lands back. I don't know how but I'll do it and you're going to regret the day you step foot in it".

I turned my back to leave, " You're starting a battle you can't win".
I turned back to face him, " You're already winning the battle, but I'm going to win the war I promise you"
And this promise I was going to keep
