"Do you, Claudia take this hot cup of coffee to be your lawfully wedded drink, to stick by it through all the turbulence that may come?".
I smiled at the priest then turned to my coffee, "I do".
"I now pronounce you two as one. You may take a sip"
I stretched my hand forward, carefully carried my cup of coffee and was about to take a sip when I heard.
Beep Beep Beep
I groaned and opened my eyes. Dragging my feet out of bed I got out of bed. I had to be at work by 8:15AM and I still felt so tired but I knew it was nothing a cup of coffee couldn't fix.
In the kitchen, I prepared for my usual morning ritual which was ground the beans, then boil water in the kettle to brew my coffee. I turned the beans into the grinder then pressed the button on my coffee grinder when I heard a strange sound. It couldn't be faculty I thought. It had a three years warranty and I was just on my second year. I tried again but it was thesame thing. I checked the time, 7:07AM.
I opened up the grinder to see if it was something that had a quick fix and saw that one of the blades had snapped off. I cursed under my breath and quickly checked the time again, It was 7:10 AM now and I had to be at work by 8:15 AM. I did some mental calculation in my head, the stores didn't open until 8:30AM. I needed my morning fix so I began to panick.
I started to think of all possible solutions, nothing seemed to work then it hit me, "Jeremy"
I quickly adjusted my robe and ran over to my neighbors house. I pounded on the door. He opened it and if looks could kill I'd be on the floor right now.
"Jesus Christ Dee it's not even 8:00 in the morning. Why are you pounding on my door like that?"
"IwokeupandwantedtomakemymorningcoffeebutthenmygrinderjustwentpuffandnowIhavenocoffeeandI'mgonnacry"
"I didn't understand a single thing you just said"
"Coffee, I need coffee. Your grinder. I need to borrow it" I breathed out.
Without a word he went inside and came back with a really heavy looking grinder, "You have serious issues". He handed it to me, "Oh and one more thing. Never pound on my door if it's not 8 in the morning", he finished with a glare.
"What a grinch" I muted under my breath . I grabbed it and hurried back to my apartment . I plugged in,, transferred my beans and turned it on. Nothing happened. I tried again, still nothing.
My phone started to ring. I picked it up, "Hello"
"I forgot to tell you it doesn't work", Jeremy said with laughter in his voice
"I swear when next I see you I'm going to murder to you Jer-"
"Just use the pre-ground coffee I saw in your cupboard for today"
"Oh my God. I forgot about them. Thank you".
"I know I'm awesome and I guess I have a murder free pass right". I laughed and ended the call.
I quickly ran to the cupboard and grabbed a bag of pre-ground coffee. I had some in the pantry for emergencies, but I had never had to use it before. I filled my cup with the beans, taking the kettle I poured in the water which had cooled a little and was the perfect temperature letting it brew.
The smell of the coffee was different than usual, but it still smelled good. I took a sip and the taste was not as good as my freshly ground coffee, but it was still decent.I added milk and little sugar then took a sip. I closed my my eyes letting it hit all the right spots. I gulped down the rest of the cup and quickly ran to the bathroom to get ready for work.
I was out the door by 7:45 AM and on my way to work. I knew that I had to find a new coffee grinder soon, but I was glad that I had been able to get some coffee in me before I had to go to work because everyone would have felt the impact if I had not.
When I arrived at work, I was still feeling the effects of the coffee. I was able to think clearly and was ready to tackle the day. First things first, I wrote on my to-do list
✓Repair my coffee grinder
✓ Get a backup coffee grinder
That's how important my coffee is and I almost forgot number three.
✓ Kill Jeremy(not literally).
