I sometimes find my self wanting to buy more things, more crap more this and more that.
I am not a big shopper . I am straight to the target shopper on most occasions. I know what I want. I see, I like, I buy, I'm out.

I do like sometimes spending hours looking for things and I do indulge. I also have some rules. I buy in bulk non perishable items.
If I buy a new item of clothing then I must donate the equivalent of what I bought. So , If I bought a three new work shirts I must donate three. I either donate, re-purpose or discard if something is in a really bad shape.

I also find my self many times just wishing to get rid of things and NOT buy anymore things until I have used and completely exhausted what I already have.
I am one of those people who do know and apply the difference between WANT and NEED.

When I moved to the USA , I was a major label person. Everything I bought had to have a label and etc. Now, it's exactly the opposite. I want things as simple as possible. I am also a home owner so now the needs are different. I would much rather invest in something for my home, than go spend hundreds of dollars on a new purse.

To get back to my post about minimalism, I have found ways to slowly but surely declutter my home. For example, I no longer keep things that have meant something in the past for me. If I didn't put those souvenir maps into a scrap book by now, then it's obvious I am not going to do it now. Instead of buying a lot of souvenirs in places I visit, I buy a magnet and the exception is, if there is a Hard Rock Cafe in that city, I will go buy a tshirt for my collection.
Also, throughout my home I will get rid of things that just occupy space. It feels really good when I am able to find a new purpose for an item that no longer serves me.

I no longer have the urge to buy things on an impulse.

For example , my neighbor and my roommate are both pack rats. Half of my garage is filled with her crap and the excuse I get for not going through those items is that she is tired and does not want to do that after work.
Anyway, my point is that living a life with less clutter surrounding you is a breath of fresh air- sometimes literally.
If you have something to say about my post, I would love to hear your story or your situation.
Don't forget to follow and up vote.
Thank you and Namaste
