It's been what, 7 days on Twitter and 7 days being inactive on Facebook. What an achievement for me. I am actually committing to a year of social withdrawal, mental rest, and relaxation so if you have any worries, concerns or anything, DM me.
I am not new on Twitter but I've just been active recently after my recent "Facebook mental breakdown". I don't have many followers because most of the people I know in real life are on Facebook. I never intended to migrate my "FB friends" to Twitter. They should just stay where they belong. To be honest, Facebook's becoming cheap to me, and I hate the term "Friends", it is pretentious and gives me the illusion that I have 900+ friends. A big fat lie. Out of those 900+ friends, some unfriended me due to my antagonizing political posts. I mean it's fine, good riddance. Well, at least on Twitter I only have followers.
Okay Stans, Twitter is just as toxic and the "Twitter mob" is real. So I decide to stay here for an indefinite amount of time until I get a "Twitter mental breakdown". I just don't know what is too much.
Where there are people, there's toxicity of course. Don't get me wrong, I like people as individuals okay, I just don't like "a group of people" especially when they are doing something stupid together. It must be my bad experiences that I cannot seem to trust their ability to do something good in a group. Probably the other side of collectivism? When people are affected by the group, it removes their ability to think critically and independently. This is the problem on social media and in real life too. People just ride on whatever's popular.
I am now seeing this so-called modern culture war. One can easily dominate social media these days and be popular just like that. Just post a joke or any sarcastic remark and it can easily be taken out of context, them boom, you have haters. You're popular. Things can go the wrong way and the next thing you know, the righteous social media people are judging your character based on your old tweets. I think this is when the mob becomes worst than the offender.
It is hard to see the true intention or motive behind a post and people can't help but take things personally. It's better to just go out and have an actual conversation with someone over a cup of coffee - saves you from getting bashed.
If there's one thing that I really hate in this current state of the world, that's mob mentality. I am always curious as to how people can make different decisions individually. I think humans just hate being alone on something . They need some form of validation from their peers to know that what they are doing is right. Even the wrong thing becomes right when you are not alone doing it. Getting torched by the crowd doesn't only happen in small towns. And now with social media, mob mentality has gotten worst. I think technology is improving but people are devolving.
