I was lost into the uncertainty,
Locked away in my own solitude.
Until one day you came and
I saw a familiar fear through the peephole.
Opening the curtains, unbolting the window,
I let you in, still dreading to open the door.
You smiled but I could see the grief.
You laughed but I could sense the despair.
You showed me your wounds
And I treated them with words of console.
You showed me your tearmarks
And I wiped them clean along with the moisture.
You showed me your scars
And I caressed them like a feather.
The vent of your pain gave courage to mine
And I was ready to shed my peels.
I showed you my scars
But you only poked them deeper.
I showed you my tearmarks
But you only made them wetter.
I showed you my wounds
But you only scraped them harder.
I grieved but you just smiled.
I was in despair but you just laughed.
I held your hand, intertwined fingers
But you only loosened the grip.
I asked you to stay by my side forever
But you only nodded and never said it back.
Now that you are gone, I have bolted the window,
Gotten myself locked away with shackles even stronger.
Throwing away the keys, building heavy walls, and
Getting myself covered with multitude of thick layers,
I will make sure no one manages to come in that farther.
