Welcome to my Splinterlands Weekly Share Your Battle Challenge. Share Your Battle is an official Splinterlands event on Hive, which each of us share about our battle using certain monster every week. This Week we have MYCELIC INFANTRY as our main theme. It's a Rare Rarity Earth Element Monster from Chaos Legion Edition.

*Shorten lore:Mycelic Infantry are lumbering behemoth fungus. They are the least intelligent of the Mycelia and are put on the front lines as a strong defense. They are incredibly tough but slow.

Mycelic Infantry is one hell of sturdy tank. It has high health, some armor and a shield ability which reduce the physical damage on him. His melee damage is good too, starting from 3 to 5 at his highest level. The only problem we have is that this monster is slow, he has only 1 speed.

A Great Sandbag.

His slow speed means we must be ready to have him not hitting anything. He will hit the last and expect to miss if you have some fast dodgy tank as your opponent. And don't forget, he won't dodge any incoming hit too. So its common if you find your Mycelic Infantry just stood there hit nothing, getting beaten badly but still surviving the battle. And for the same reason too I think he will make a good combo with Mylor.

Reverse Speed Maestro.

All forever speed 1 monsters are superior during Reverse Speed ruleset. During this ruleset, Mycelic Infantry will hit first and don't forget... he has good melee damage. However I don't think he is the best Melee Tank during this ruleset, you must count in some monstrous slow tank too such as Torhillo from Water Element. But still, it's a great choice during Reverse Speed Ruleset.

Magic Vunerabiity.

The main problem I have found while having him in my team is that he is quickly dead from magic attacks especially if I meet obsidian full magician team, which most of the time Mycelic Infantry dies in the first round without doing anything. So it's highly recommended to avoid using him if you have a hunch you are going to meet any magic focused team

This week share your battle challenge will be this one. It was a modern format silver league battle rank. This match up was a bit weird due to these points:

  • My opponent used the Grandmaster Rathe, a quite good choice to counter my Obsidian.
  • They had two good monster with Scattershot Ability, a great combination to counter my Mycelic Slipspawn taunt Ability.

During normal condition, I should lose badly because Level-wise they were better and they had countered my team strength point. However this battle had Equal Opportunity ruleset and Explosive Weaponry ruleset. My opponent might not paying good attention on those ruleset but before we go further, let see my line up:

PositionCardAbilityPlan and Strategy
Summoner+1 magicOne of my favorite summoner, Ease to use, focus on buffing up magic attacks. Well the truth I do not have any other Earth Summoner 😂
Main TankShieldOur main theme this week. Whether he will be a great hero or just a flop punching bag... we let RNG God decides it due to his 1 speed in no Reverse Ruleset
SecondDouble StrikeOne of the deadliest attacker from chaos legion. I put him behind Mycelic Infantry because of Equal Opportunity Ruleset, he will still be able to attack using his Double Strike ability from behind.
ThirdFlyRegal Peryton is my key monster in this battle. I will really depend on his 6 speed, hoping that he will kill some monsters first before they have any chance to hit.
FourthProtect, AmplifyIt's a hard choice to pick for this position. I pick Queen Mycelia due to her Protect Ability. During Equal Opportunity Ruleset, most players would go with a bunch of Melee monsters, so protect ability might be crucial in this one.
FifthReflection Shield, Camouflage, ImmunityVenator Kinjo is not the best monster with Reflection Shield, however Earth Element doesn't have any monsters with Reflection Shield. Like it or not we must use Kinjo if we need a Reflection Shield ability in Earth element.
LastTauntMy favorite backline taunting tank. She will die fast for sure, but hopefully she can buy enough time for her teammates to kill some of their opponents first.

Round 1 - Blast Party

image.png

  • This battle started by each parties buffed and debuffed monsters.
  • My opponent came with 7 Melee Damage, 5 range damage and 5 magic damage. Combined all became 17 damage per turn.
  • My team had 8 Melee damage and 8 magic damage too. Combined all became 16 damage per turn.
  • Our fire power was even, almost the same. However I had a double strike ability and my opponent had a recharge ability. During Explosive Weaponry ruleset, which everyone had blast ability, double strike was more stronger.

  • First move was made by his Regal Peryton, as expected and she aim their portal Spinner. With void armor from Grandmaster Rathe, Peryton magic could not hurt directly.
  • Venator Kinjo Reflection Shield played great part in this round, containing all damage on Slipspawn only.
  • Grund made his action, Killing portal Spinner and Gem Meteor.
  • Venator Kinjo did not want to lose either, he killed the resurrected Portal Spinner and Djinn Renova

Round 2 - Good Bye Slipspawn

infantry2.gif

  • Slipspawn joined the killing spree, she killed Adelade Brightwing
  • Corsair Bosun made a revenge, killed slipspawn

Round 3-4 - The End

infantry 34.gif

  • It's 4 vs 2 and I still had Peryton - Grund - Mycelic Infantry. The battle became one sided
  • Speedforwarded, it's over for them.

Battle Discussion:

How Well Did Mycelic Infantry Perform?

Well we see, in that 4 rounds battle, He hit 1 from 3 attempt. He did not evade any attacks. I would say he was quite useless, my team would perform better if I put Venari Knifer there as my main tank.

Did My Strategy Work?

Yes it did. Everyone performed excellently except our main theme the Mycelic Infantry. Queen Mycelia protect ability was very crucial in that battle, and Grund destroyed his opponent badly.

What's Wrong With My Opponent Line Up?

One thing he made wrong, and it's the worst one was to put Bosun Behind Uriel. He should put his Corsair Bosun behind, next to the lowest health monster because they did not bring any Taunt monster. It's an Equal Opportunity Ruleset anyway.
