Especially yesterday I would like to make a bear pin cushion but I don’t know why the result could be a cat, maybe because I made the size too small (?) well I don’t know but some how it is still cute and useful. Let’s check out how I made it here.

Skills needed:

• Back stitch,
• French knot,
• Ladder invisible stitch,
• Basic hand sewing

Materials & Things needed:

• Natural color fabric
• Baby blue polkadots cotton fabric
• Marker
• Unused brochure paper
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Straight pins
• Embroidery floss in brown and pink
• Sewing needle
• Sewing thread in maroon and white

How to make it:

1ST

First with the black marker, I drew the bear (now, cat) pattern on the unused paper. I cut it off then copy it on natural color fabric and on polkadot fabric (half of it), bottom part.

2ND

Then cut them off. I used the straight pins to attach the polkadot fabric to the natural fabric. Then I draw the two eyes, a nose and a mouth on the fabric with pencil. I also hand sew the polkadot to the natural fabric with the red thread of running stitch, it means to hold it to the natural fabric.

3RD

After that I French knotted for the eyes and also nose, for the mouth part I used the back stitch. The eyes and nose used 8 strands of brown floss while the back stitch only needed 4 strands of it. For the nose I wrapped around 4-5 times to get a bigger knot. For the cheeks I used 4 strands of pink floss and I wrapped it 10 times to make both cheeks.

4TH

After that, I pinned the whole of my cat to the other natural fabric. I then did the back stitch around it with the white thread. After finished, I left the bottom part, trimmed around.

5TH

Then, I turned back the cat (although it actually a bear) now it looked like a cute cat with the blanket (pocket).

6TH

Last thing I did was closing the bottom part, I used the ladder invisible stitch this time. Not difficult it just slipped the needle under a side then slipped again to another. This was my first time doing the stitch so I just made an easy straight stitches (although actually I would like to make the legs shape). After finished I cut the red sewing helper one.

Voila, a cute cat pocket pin cushion is here.

I love that I made a cute fat cat now. The pocket could be used to put thread, and also pins plus needle on the top. Isn’t it cute?
