Remember the time in college when people used to get attracted to the interesting people. And it would benefit both the sides. But then times change and we noticed that being more interesting also attracts the bad type of people.
This is where we learned about the lesson of "Keeping Distance".
Imagine a scenario where you are more resourceful. And you also have the empathy to help others. And you help people daily. And this becomes a pattern. And people realize that you are a person where anyone can go for help.
And with time you realize that you are being approached by people who use you. Some people come just for their own advantages. And it becomes different pattern. People use you and then leave you. And it becomes even more hard to recover from that pattern.
In ideal world being helpful and resourceful may sound like being a bill gates. But in real world that is not true. Some people just come to you for using and then you get drained. Some of the time being drained happens when you exhaust your giving capacity.
Like you can be helpful but more you are the more you get drained if you meet the wrong people. So one way of the exchange of the drain, that can be bad so it has to be always one sided. In order to be healthy, one has to be two sided and not the one sided that is for sure.
Some of the time being boring is good for you. It can keep some psychos, some manipulative and evil people out of your life. And that kind of opens up you for the right type of people. As long as you understand the pattern of how other people manipulate you, it helps to adjust yourself.
I keep myself boring and useless when I meet narcissist and manipulative people. When you do that it can save you mount loads of the effort of keeping some distance.
Maybe I could be wrong, but I think for me that works.
