I used to be very pro activist and very insecure towards anything that was from Mac and Windows. And as the time passed I realized one of my mistake. That in life there are not good and bad sides, you check the sides and benefit from both of them. I used to be very strong towards the open source and the linux this way.
In reality, my jobs are on Windows. And they pay me good income. And the tech that I used is being on the Mac too. So basically capitalism keeps me on the places where I can afford food and travel. And that has helped me with the money.
Open source is good and all. But we have to find out the tech out of the open source that makes money. And that can be used for the income generation. Most of the time that does not happen.And instead people are going to be using things for free.A lot of people can't afford expensive stuff so they tend to buy the things that has the free and the open source loaded.
In such case, Enterprise software is how this world runs. They pay for the jobs, they do the expenses and also they support the open source so that it can grow. In short the open source is good and all but we need some sort of the capitalism to keep that going on and that would be the only thing I had to learn before.
Activism for the Linux and the Open source is good. But we don't know how the activism can be a good option for the people who want to avoid things that are cheap or the things they don't like. For example apple is expensive and people who don't want to use android should have that option in that case.
I use Linux, I love it. I use Ubuntu and Debian as my most used server setup most of the time. And that has been most of my common setup. But I need to keep that aside and use what makes money.And that means if I can use the Linux and make things work for myself and the clients that would be a good direction for my company.
In short, what we like and what we can use for paying the bills, both are different things. And I am now old enough to differentiate between the values and the money.
