I recently got the copy of RPG Maker MZ for the Christmas discount. And it turns out to be one of those good apps which makes it easier to create the games. I think this is very good application that allows you to create simple RPG games.
Though the games created here are basically RPG and also in 2D. But there are plugins that could help you turn such games into something creative, good in particle effects and also good in terms of the game value.
So how did I started with this engine? I got the engine and then installed it on Windows 10. So basically for 79 dollars you get this engine. It allows you to export the game to the Windows executable and also the Javascript HTML file. So between these two options you can export to android and iOS if you know how to use Cordova.
Now comes the basics part. I know there are many tutorials out there but starting with something simple and getting the users to playable game is something I am planning on doing as well. Here I have shown some of the typical basics that you need to learn in order to work on your game development skills with RPG Maker MZ.
This video shows you how to get started with various options within the game. And from there you can make sure to add few new changes with the game movement across the maps. It ends with showing you how to make simple level and movement of the player.
As you know I have created various set of the tutorials on the Godot Engine and GDevelop. You can check out those tutorials here:
In near future I may show you how to add various types of soundtrack, effects and the Gifs that can be used within the RPG maker. I hope to release the android app or game app in near future using this but till then stay tuned.
I hope the current tutorial was useful to you.
We will continue the further game development topic in next post.
