Hello again Steemit! It has been a while since I have posted, but that has mainly been because I have been working a lot and have hardly had time to take pictures. In the meantime though I want to keep posting and decided to do some overviews of the common photo editing software I use. Today I will be focusing on Photos for Mac.

I did a post on how I edit my images in Photos a few months back, but recently Photos has been completely overhauled and made far more useful and (slightly) more professional.

Where Photos used to lack quite severely was in... Well everything really. For me it was great because I don't like to make large changes to my photos, but for anything serious you definitely couldn't use Photos. While this is still the case, there is now a lot more functionality. Where we used to have less than 10 options (such as sharpen, noise reduction, colour, light, and definition) we are now provided with a decent amount of new options.

We now have some rather simple, but very handy options to adjust things such as white balance (which I believe was there before, but is much better now), along with a histogram (which was also there before, but can now be adjusted to show RGB, red, green, blue or luminance).

For me though, the best part of this new Photos app is definitely the curves and selective colouring. The curves allow you to manually pick the grey point, black point and white point of the image or set them completely manually. While this has been commonplace on many types of photo editing software, it is definitely a welcome addition to Photos for Mac.

And arguably my favourite part of the new app, is the ability to change and add selective colouring. This is something that Photos was severely lacking in the past (I noticed when I have wanted to do selective colouring many times in the past, and was instead forced to do it on my camera before importing). Every colour (either from the presets or by manually selecting the colour) can be edited this way, and each colour can be changed by hue, saturation, luminance or range.

Finally, but by far not least (this is definitely to most important new feature for me!) is the addition of the markup add-on to photos by default. This allows easy watermarking or drawing on top of photos from within the Photos app (which I don't believe was possible before). Now instead of exporting images to watermark them, they can be edited directly within the app! Definitely something I am excited about!

This wasn't meant to be an in depth article, instead I just wanted to brush upon the new features of Photos, and how the app is changing for the better. If you have any questions of comments please feel free to ask down below, I will answer as soon as I can!

I am working on some photos to post soon, I just need to collect a few more! So if you want to see more.... Follow me! Thanks everyone for reading :)
