I have always loved lizards, and as a child I dreamed of having one as a pet. To me they are one of those animals that just seems so unique and different from other animals, and they seem to have such different lives. While these days there are other pets I would prefer, I still love lizards and wish I could see them more often! (in New Zealand we don't have many kinds, and they are relatively hard to find).
When I went to a private zoo (sort of like a private place that keeps a few different animals... Not sure if it's a zoo or not), they had a collection of lizards and I spent a while watching them. For such lazy creatures they are still interesting somehow! But yes. They are lazy... Maybe having one as a pet would be a bit boring haha.
As mentioned above, these were taken in an enclosure, so the environments are artificial, and the focus in some images is a bit off due to being taken through glass. I am still happy with the results though!
All images are taken on a Nikon D5300, 55-200mm lense.
Quite possibly my favourite lizard of all! The Bearded Dragon. While they are covered in spikes to fend off predators, I have heard they aren't actually very sharp. They are capable of changing the colour of their skin depending on the situation (one of the coolest abilities ever!), and can live up to 14 years in captivity.
Unfortunately I am not sure what type of lizard this is... I thought it was a bearded dragon too, but on second thought, it doesn't seem to look like it? I also thought it might be a tuatara, but it doesn't appear to be... If anyone knows, please let me know! I would love to know!
Another of the same type of lizard.. The mystery deepens! Is it a bearded dragon? I honestly have no idea.
Collection of images of a blue-tongued lizard.
This set of images is of a blue-tongued lizard which I believe was from Australia. When looking at the pictures, it almost looks like a snake at some points! This particular lizard was very active and moved around a lot.
Lizards still remain fascinating to me to this day! One day maybe I can get one as a pet still haha.
Thank you for reading this far! I appreciate it. Please feel free to comment or give feedback (especially if you know what lizard it is!), and if you want to see more... Don't forget to follow!
