Hello all,
On Saturday I was at a concert of Hans Zimmer in the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin after nearly one year of waiting. Since I bought my tickets right at the start of the presale, I had a seat in the second row.
I was a little surprised by the wardrobe of many people. For an orchestra, I expect a proper evening wear, but many came in shorts and T-shirt. Of course I did not spoil my mood and was looking forward to the set-up that would be played. One of the first songs was the theme of Mission Impossible. In addition to the first-class sound of the orchestra, I also noticed the solo artists positively.
For most of the songs, a few soloists were always brought straight forward, who then played their instrument there. Especially her facial expressions helped to convey the mood of the respective title.
The first act included the theme of Rush and The Davinci Code, which I was most looking forward to. You can listen to a live recording of The Davinci Code chevaliers de sangreal here. Between the individual pieces there were clips in which Hans Zimmer tune the evidence in the next composition. That was quite nice, but I was a little disappointed, as I assumed he would be there live and would moderate.
After the first act, there was a 20-minute break in which you could stretch one's legs and get a little proviant. The second act started with the theme of Madagascar. The composition of The lions king was another highlight, as it combines a lot of personally emotions with it.
At the end followed the theme of Inception with Hans Zimmer playing in the background at the piano. Then the time comes. Another guitarist came on stage and I immediately realized that it was Hans Zimmer.
The audience realized this a bit later, and the crowd chattered. Many acknowledgments followed and as a bonus a piece of Pirates of the Caribbean was played, where the crowd goes wild.
All in all, it was a very successful evening and I can recommend anyone to take part of such an event. I'll definitely be back for the next tour.
