update to 1.27.6 is done

After some 13 hours OFF the server are BACK at the BLOCKS

It was time to update to the latest version 1.27.6 as this comes with some security features. So the @detlev.witness server got this and we fixed as well some minor issues at the server itself.

Yeah, since a few hours a new server is up and running.

A new witness in town

Let's see if my detlev.witness will ever reach one of the top 30 sooner or later. Today we are at 50

During the last years, I saw we lost a few witness provider.
This little activity from my side might be a help to secure the blockchain.

What is a witness

Many Hivians may ask this. There is a answer at https://hiveblocks.com/witnesses where I got this text from and which I translated to German.

On the Hive blockchain, witnesses serve a role of validating signatures and timestamping transactions by including them in blocks.

A block is any group of transactions (posts, votes, transfers, etc) which update the state of the database. Each time a witness produces a block, they are paid for their service. If a witness fails to produce a block, then they are not paid, and may even be voted out.

In der Hive-Blockchain haben Witnesse die Aufgabe, Signaturen zu validieren und Transaktionen mit einem Zeitstempel zu versehen, indem sie sie in Blöcke aufnehmen.

Ein Block ist eine Gruppe von Transaktionen (Beiträge, Abstimmungen, Überweisungen usw.), die den Zustand der Datenbank aktualisieren. Jedes Mal, wenn ein Zeuge einen Block produziert, wird er für seine Dienste bezahlt. Wenn ein Zeuge keinen Block produziert, wird er nicht bezahlt und kann sogar abgewählt werden.

For the long run

This project is made for the long run and not for short term fund generating. Actually, I don't calculate with income here, as my main focus is supporting #Hive with just another witness working at another data center in Europe.

Dieses Projekt ist auf lange Sicht angelegt und nicht auf kurzfristiges Geldverdienen ausgerichtet. Eigentlich rechne ich hier nicht wirklich mit Einnahmen, da mein Hauptaugenmerk darauf liegt, #Hive mit einem weiteren Zeugen / Witness Server zu unterstützen, der in einem anderen Rechenzentrum in Europa arbeitet.
